The peer-to-peer nets have demonstrated that they are widely spread among Internet users, because they have meant a real revolutions when it comes to sharing all types of files, be it video, music, documents, images,... Because by using this technology all user are both servers and clients simultaneously of the other nodes in the net.
With the boom of
file sharing via
P2P nets around about the year 2000, many clients based on the model of the P2P net emerged to create their own nets, with the main intention of improving
download speed, usability or functionality. Thus emerged the
eDonkey net used by eMule, eDonkey or iMesh, the
Gnutella net used by
BearShare or Limewire, the
BitTorrent net, .. and the
Ares net.
The
Ares net was specifically designed at the end of 2002 for the application of the same name, also known as Ares Galaxy or Ares P2P, basing the design on the Gnutella net, to try to get improved
download and search speed in comparison with other clients.
Using the original client, some users make certain modifications and created
Ares Destiny, a client that improved the compatibility with other nets like the
eDonkey and BitTorrent nets. Its interface is very similar to the original Ares, allowing users of that client to understand the general use of this one in a few minutes.
Ares Destiny includes, among other features, the possibility to
download files according to file type, a file library with all our downloads catalogued, an
integrated media player, chat, ...
